Question: Starting to Read The Bible.?
Hello. I was starting to read some of The Old Testament online on several sites.
The first one was harder to understand then the second one I started reading but I want to read the genuine word of God.
God be with us all.
One website has all of these to choose from.Amplified Bible
Bible in Basic English
Children's Bible
Contemporary English Version
God's Word
Grail Psalter: The Book of Psalms
King James Version
Message Bible
New American Bible (Catholic)
New International Reader's Version
New King James Version
New Living Translation
New Revised Standard Version
Revised Standard Version
Young's Literal Translation
World English Bible (Hebrew Names Version)
Wycliffe New TestamentThis is like my search for a Church to attend frequently. I don't know where to start.
What "version" of the Bible should I read? Which one is most accurate to the true word of God?
Thank you in advance for any reply.
Answer: Of the ones you list, the NRSV is the most scholarly - however, it has been rightly criticized for over-use of inclusive language.
Next would be either the NAB or the RSV. The NAB has similarly been accused of inclusive language. The RSV uses *no* inclusive language (a little is better), but is also dated.
If you are Roman Catholic, the NAB wins hands-down.
If not, the NRSV or the RSV are the best on this list.If you need an easier version to read, I would list them in this order
God's Word or NIV
CEV
NLT
ICB or NIrV or BBE
MSGI discourage the use of the Amplified Bible.
Grail Psalter is highly acclaimed but is only Psalms.
KJV is archaic.
NKJV is an excellent translation of a poor source text.
YLT is too literal for best understanding unless you are fluent in the original languages and is dated (1800s)
I don't know enough about WEB to comment.
Tyndale does not include the Old Testament and is archaic.

In the stories, the reader is able to read James and Lily's journel enteries. Any ideas? I always choose a best answer!Thank you for your time,

Answer: Ohhh good luck! I will check back and see what you called it so I can read and review.
My suggestions:
-Pranking, Partying and Puckering up
-Opposites attract
-The Power of Love
-The diary of an oblivious red head
-How to brew a love potion
-Doe-eyed stag
-James Potter; prat! Lily Evans; lady in love?
-Looking below the surface
-Marauders like never before!
-Kiss me quick
-Kissing James Potter?
- 101 ways to turn down James Potter.
-Love in unlikely places.Hmmm, that will do for now. I hope you found one you liked! If not I hope someone else suggested a good one!
Good luck!
