Question: I'm wondering if anybody can interpret this....?
I've had some really strange dreams in my lifetime... or well, at least the ones I remember.
This one had me and my family, and we were at our house, cousins were over. Except our house was located on the seashore, supported by posts, and we had a swimming pool in the back, our neighbors behind us had a junkyard that was half submerged in water. We were all in the swimming pool, got out, went inside but, in order to get inside, we had to go down steps and then up several steps again. The bottom step though, was half-floating on the sea and dolphins surrounded it, except the dolphins were eating what appeared to be meat... and when I asked if it was safe to cross I was answered with a yes, and so I crossed safely, went inside. And then went further into my house only to find a bookstore/library there, which I entered and then searched.
Was this just a random compilation of stuff or is there actual meaning behind this dream?
Answer: It's almost impossible to analyze a dream without one-on-one contact. Each element of the dream requires investigation to determine (if possible) what that element means to YOU. Objects and life below the surface of the water MAY signify memories or other elements of your unconscious mind. Dolphins are generally regarded as friendly, so let's assume that they are not negative elements. The meat is more problematic and could be interpreted differently if you're a vegan than if you're not.
The house MAY represent your psyche. Being up on posts may symbolize safety--protection of self from hazards. Crossing the water safely SEEMS to indicate a current process or rite of passage, possibly something appropriate to your age or schooling.
I SUSPECT the key element in your dream is the library--your repository of inner wisdom and knowledge. This may indicate a leaning towards intellectual pursuits, something that is important to you--a core value, deep in the psyche, a feeling that you possess the necessary wisdom for something ahead of you or some current challenge.
Dreams are rarely prophetic. On the other hand, they are rarely trivial or random, either. They are your unconscious's most healthy way of alerting you to what is going on at that level. I'd guess that there's something here. What it is, is up to you to determine. You are the best interpreter of your own dreams.

Question: If dolphins are mammals and breathe air why do they go about in water?
I ask this because scientists believe that dolphins evolved from land walking creatures into what they are today, they swim about in water where air isnt breathed in the same way mammals breathe air, it seems like an evolutionary step in the wrong direction.
Answer: Evolution doesn't have a right or wrong direction. Evolution very simply put, as Darwin said "Natural Selection". So, if an animal lives near water, and swims in water to get its food like sea-lions, penguins for instance. The better swimmers get more food and produce more offspring. Eventually, dolphins evolved to swim always, just as sea-lions and penguins might do also someday millions of years from now.
In Evolution there is no right or wrong, only survival of the fittest and best suited to gather food and reproduce, whether that means evolving to do it in water or on land.
