Conejito: A Folktale From Panama

This is an interesting book for kids and it is a folktale from Panama called Conejito. It is a big kids' book by Margaret Read MacDonald and illustrated by Geraldo Valerio. The book measures 11.1 x 8.6 x 0.5 inches, has 32 pages and it is intended for children ages 4-8 years old. It is a very colorful book with lots of pictures that are not so conventional but they are still cute nevertheless. There are a few basic Spanish words that kids can learn in this book.

Conejito, a little bunny with very long ears, was visiting him auntie, Tia Monica. His aunt would feed him lots of cookies and food and Conejito was definitely going to get fat coming back. On his way, however, Conejito ran into a big bad Fox. The fox wanted to eat Conejito but he convinced him that it would be more wise to wait until he was fatter. Then little Conejito ran into a hungry Tiger whom also wanted to eat him but then again Conejito convinced him to wait until he come back from his auntie. Next, Conejito ran into a fierce lion whom also wanted to eat him. Again, Conejito managed to convince him to wait.

Little bunny Conejito finally arrive at his auntie's and they ate and danced. When it was time to leave, Conejito told his auntie what happened and his auntie came up with a good plan to get Conejito safely down the hill without having to face those fierce bullies. Find out how she did it!

Duck in the Truck

This is a big board book called Duck in the Truck by Jez Alborough, published by Kane Miller Book Publishers. This board book measures 8.5x7.75x0.8 inches. With 30 pages of colorful pictures that are bound to catch the attention of any toddlers, this board book is bigger and thicker than most other board books. Each page has big pictures and just a sentence to read. You know the story by looking at the pictures rather than reading the text.

What is the story of Duck in the Truck?

In this board book, Duck is driving home in a red truck but the truck was stuck so the Duck was trying to move it when a Sheep passed by. Other animals passed by too and they all tried to help Duck. Eventually, the animals were successful at helping to unstuck the truck and Duck drove away leaving all the other animals who helped him stuck instead. So, the story is happy ending for Duck but not happy ending for the other good hearted animals who helped him.
