Question: is this book too childish for me? I am 12 years old?
Is this book too childish for me?
i was looking at this book and it looks nice but i was wondering if it was too baby-ish for me.
these are the books:
so you want to be a wizard
deep wizardry
high wizardry
wizard aboard
the wizard's dilemma
a wizard alone
wizards at war..... all by Diane Duane
please help!! thanks![]()
Answer: Don't worry about it. If you like it, go ahead and read it. You are still a child you know. Besides, lots of people read books that might be too young for them. Think of all the adults who have read Harry Potter. I myself am reading Twilight, and I'm 20 (Twilight usu sally appeals to teens and preteens). Besides, it's adults who write children's books you know, not usually kids. Surely the adult who wrote it was interested in it otherwise she wouldn't spend so much time writing them. If it's not too childish for Diane Duane, it's not too childish for you.

Question: Star Trek fans ! What do you know about the Klingons ?
In the original "Star Trek" series and the movies with Captain Kirk and Mr , Spock, the Klingons were the villains . In "Star Trek : The Next Generation", Worf was a Klingon, but he was a Starfleet officer, a crew member aboard the Enterprise, and a good person . Fictional alien races are all over movies and comic books, and I LIKE the Klingons ! Between the events depicted in the original "Star Trek" and "Star Trek : The Next Generation", the Klingons signed a peace treaty with the Federation . I'm not an expert on "Star Trek", but I have watched it enough to know that the Klingons make "honor" a priority . Do the Klingons think it's important to keep a promise, or maintain their part of a bargain ? Are they the kind of people who would keep a peace treaty ? Thank you in advance for your answers .
Answer: In "Star Trek," the Klingons were indeed enemies of the Federation. It was mentioned in an episode of "TNG" ("First Contact") that first contact between Klingons and Humans was disastrous. For many years beyond that, they usually fought mainly due to the Klingons' aggresive stance on expansion and territory. However, there were at least two wars fought between the Klingons and the Federation/Starfleet.
At one point during early post-Cochrane Human history, the Klingons gained access to the DNA of the Augments (think Khan Noonien Singh and his clan), and experimented with genetic engineering - this caused a virus that forced some Klingons to lose their cranial ridges, hence why you have smooth-headed Klingons in "TOS" and ridge-headed ones later on. (In reality, the real reason the Klingons weren't ridge-headed until "The Motion Picture" is because "TOS" didn't have the budget for prosthetics. In the Star Trek Canon, it has never been explained how a cure to the disease was found, since it obviously must have due to there never being smooth-headed Klingons after "TOS.")
Anyway, over the course of the movies based on "TOS," there were conflicts with the Klingons - finally resulting in the Khitomer Accords (signed in "Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country" - in Federation history, the year was 2293), which effectively established a peace between the Federation and the Klingons.
Worf was a bit of a rare case - he was rescued from the ruins of the Khitomer colony after a battle between the Romulans and Klingons resulted in the colony's destruction. The human officer that rescued young Worf took Worf home to Earth and rasied him in a human family. Worf then had the opportunity to attend Starfleet Academy and become the first Klingon to be a member of Starfleet.
That said, not all Klingons are as good as Worf - the Duras family has a long history of family members that generally have a disregard for honor. For example, Duras himself was the person who had a major hand in the massacre at Khitomer that orphaned Worf - something Worf's father was eventually blamed for. Also, Lursa and B'Etor often disregarded honor in favor of personal gain; they were also the main cause of the Klingon Civil War.
Anyway, to make my already long answer even longer - most Klingons hold honor in high regard, much like most people you know here on Earth hold human rights in high regard. There are, of course, exceptions to every rule - the Duras family being one of the Klingons' major exceptions.
The Klingons usually do honor things such as the Khitomer Accords - however, in one instance, they withdrew from the Accords (during "Deep Space Nine") and the Second Klingon/Federation War began. This was caused mainly because a shapeshifter infiltrated the Klingon high command and ran misinformation, causing the Klingons to believe things that weren't actually true. The shapeshifter was quickly exposed, however, and the Klingons re-entered their alliance with the Federation.
So, long answer short - Yes, most Klingons make honor a priority, as well as honoring a promise. Yes, they're usually the type of people that would keep a peace treaty. Hope my uber-long answer helped you.
